To the best of my knowledge they were first. But not the best now.
Applegate and others make one that is all plastic except for the metal pin that hold the lid on the top. Bullmasters rust down fast around here. In the drier areas of the country they may last longer. Another plus for the Applegate unit is the size. Holds more product.
