Never heard of or seen any problems unless snow covered wire and shorts it out.
Unless they are hungry, don't worry about it. Chances are they don't even test the fence anymore, why would they, it hurts right? ;
)
I always say it doesn't take much of a fence to keep a cow in, but it takes a hell of a fence to starve one to death.
