Rivers, MB | Very cheap to run. We have a '97. Spray 13-15000 ac/year. Probably on average spend $3000/year on maintenance. We take it to our JD dealer to do a winter inspection on it every 2 or 3 year so that's where the money gets spent. Solution pump, brake rebuild, boom cushions/suspension pieces. Has only given us grief out in the field once. Otherwise, just grease, fuel and run it.
Fuel costs us about 30-35 cents/ac. Depreciation has been about $5000/year (we bought at a low in the sprayer market a few years back). Adding it all up, including my time to run it, I figure it costs us less than $2/ac to spray. Sure beats the local custom applicators at 7/ac.
