Same suggestion as others,feed a smaller tube down the middle,,,now my different unheard of thing NOT said. How far from closest other hydrant that works?? IF withiin hose length even ground temp water will go thru ice inside a pipe real fast,,,hot is better,,,but hose water works JUST fine,still goes REAL quick!! Just need a tight adapter from hose threads to tubing insert so you dont get TOO soaking wet cause it gets real cold outside wet. course you KNEW that!! IF you put a 1/4 turn valve on top of pipe you can pull out hose/tubing/and get water shut off OR have an assistant at closest main shutoff.
