Subject: RE: John Deere 7800 / 7810

Indiana
We had a 7800 that was running 205hp. We advanced the timing, changed the injectors and added a bunch of weight. We pulled a set of 750 drills with it, 28ft disk, and a 30ft cultimulcher. The problem we had was that the tractor always ran 2 bars from the red on the temp guage. It did this before and after we tuned it. It didn't matter what you were doing with it, it's just the way Deere set it up. The only problem we had was the exhaust temp got too hot one day and ruined the exhaust pipe prematurely. This happened when we were disking one spring when it was extrememly hot. We were lugging the engine some. After that, we were VERY careful when running it. So to make a long story short, the engine can handle it, but it really needs the intercooler to help cool that much HP.
