![](/profile/get-photo.asp?memberid=17921&type=profile&rnd=482) West Texas | When we deciced to turn cattle into the pasture that has the road to the house, we opted to put in electric gates. We put in a 16 foot gate and the electric opener, solar charger, 12 volt battery and two remote controler and two post controllers cost around 6 to 7 hundred. Its been up for about 5 years and still works great. Push the button, drive thru and the gate closes automatically. Had to train the UPS drivers to push the button on the post when entering or leaving. We do have a homemad cattle guard coming off of the highway, but the electric gate was much cheaper and doesn't have to be cleaned out every couple of years.
