I’ve got irrigation on about half the crops so it keeps me in the game. At harvest time it really lets you see exactly “what could have been” on our dry land acres if we had more cooperation with Mother Nature. I’ve applied 7.5 inches on the corn with the pivots in the last two weeks and that’s on top of 3.5 inches of rain that we got about 4 ½ weeks ago. The corn crop has needed every bit of that and will need more to finish it out.

When you look at that it makes you wonder if we can recharge the soil moisture enough for the 2013 crop. The law of averages tells me that not everyone suffering in the current dry conditions will get their soil moisture recharged for 2013 crops. I’ve been through those local 2 or 3 year dry spells and they are no fun at all.
