King City, Mo | I have put those things over the plumbing, electrical holes and where ever else i think some one may put a nail.....i have bought more 3x plus the plumber brought some of his own. Thanks for the tip though, if it wasn't for the plumber/electrican i wouldn't know about the things and it makes alot of since to put them in.
It's so hard to think of everything, that is one nice thing about building slowly is that you can talk to more people and gather more information and hopefully forget less things you wish you would have done.
As for the 2x4's supporting lvl's the exterrior walls are all 2x6's and interriors are 2x4's. Also have lvl's in the floor going to the basement with 2x4 walls with double rows of blocking in them for support. They are put on 16" centers. I asked the builder about the strenth and the quality of the lumber and he explained it was like an egg on how more strengh from the top down and less side to side. I dunno, an engineer approved everything and everyone that has walked though said that we have alot of lumber in the walls ect....
The builder said that it's easyier, or cheaper to use lvl's on long runs where you need to support a load because there stronger or straiter or something along those lines. Don't really know, didn't question that because they look impressive and from the scrap i tried to drill to see how tough it was, it's good stuff...
All i know it was a PITA to find a place to run the vac line once the plumber, hvac and electrical guys were done.....all the good spots were taken or there was an lvl in the way. So we put the hookups in our second choice spots....eeer 3rd eeeer where it worked out the best....
