Subject: Re: Texas guys milo question

N W Tennessee
The milo I planted in late April is still not headed out completely. We had 1.4" last week on one farm and it is still not but about 50-60% headed. The other farms got .40" then 6 days later .50" and the weaker places are not headed out. Always thought milo could handle the stress, but I'm not very impressed for now. We had about two weeks of 100+ weather just as the milo was getting ready to head and it stressed bad. A neighbor planted corn the same time across the road from one of my farms and the corn looks pretty good considering how HOT and DRY its been (100-120 bpa?) on same soil type.
My best guess on my yield on the milo right know would be 50-55 bpa. My varieties are Dekalb 54-00 and Pioneer 84G77. The seven day forecast calls for HOT temps again. (95-100).
