Panhandle of Ne.
Yea Roger, everybody thinks that all corn farmers will be able to take advantage of the higher prices. Lots of folks including myself have most of their production cash contracted for 2 dollars less than what the CBOT is now. Not complaining as I thought I had done a real good job of marketing when the local elevator bid here about 2 months ago was 4.50 or less. IMHO, the corn belt was 3-4 inches of timely rain away from having a real good crop and it is possible we could have seen a 3 in front of the price per bushel. So, no, not everyone is going to be "lucky", some of us had price protection in place.

As far as Ne. rain, we've had .6 to 1.8 on most of our ground so far in July. Very little in June, but we are fortunate to have irrigation. Going to be the most expensive crop we have ever raised. Have several hundred acres of dryland corn that has only had the July rains on it since it was planted. But, dryland corn is a crap shoot at best in this part of Ne.
