McLeod County, MN | I finally after two hours have learned how to resize and post a picture. I know that one of you was asking about some mid 90 day Channel seed. I took some pics of some ears today after I got done with the hail adjuster. They were all planted on April 30.
The 196-06 is in a corn on corn rotation. Planted at 34,237.
The 197-67 is corn following beans. Planted at 33,014.
The Dekalb 52-62rr refuge is corn following beans. Planted at 33,014.
I also have some Pioneer 9917am1 and some dekalb 50-77 that I will be getting pics of soon. I plan to keep updating every couple weeks. I am sitting at about 25% lost acres from spring flooding, and now I am sitting at 20% loss from the hail. The claim is deffered until the fall so we can see what the real damage is. I have a lot of bruising on the ears and stalk. I picked ears with little damage for the pictures. Just wondering if I should fly on some Headline.
I would say these are average ears. I have some better and some worse depending on moisture. Where I didnt get flooding and ponding the stand looked like heaven in some places, but those were very few. I have just enough soil moisture to hang on for seven-ten days before it gets real serious.
The 196-06 is handling the heat and lack of moisture better than the 197-67. I like it cause its a shorter plant and putting more energy to the cob. 52-62 is throwing multiple cobs on almost every stalk. I think that is going to really hurt me down the road. I am only interested in one nice one. I would be happy to answer any other questions you guys have and hope this helps with your descions for next year.
