Agreed that the auto shift sucks after using a regular trans. I'd say 10 speed for beginner. 13 speed once experienced. Only thing about a 10 is that you are gonna want a decent amount of power in front of it or it makes for a long day.



You must have never spent much time in a R model MACK with a ENDT-675/237HP with a straight Mack 5 speed with a Mack camel back suspension!!! ...... Man, talkin bout wanting some decent power up front, but it would make you think it was lifting the left front tire off the ground coming out of the field with 1000 bushels of corn on a 45' flatbed!!! Truck had 24.5" rubber, don't know what the final drive ratio was, coming out of the field in 1st gear maybe second if there was any down hill grade or on the path, mashing the motor through the firewall, with about 20" of boost on the intake manifold gauge. That thing was singing it's music!! Don't know how we made it work for so many years.
