We use a "reel" type cattle feed mixer. I think an auger type would also work. It already had scales and was bought for $2500. We run it with a 60 hp tractor. It will leave about 1" of fertilizer in the bottom when unloaded. Before washing this can be removed by dumping a few hundred pounds of ag lime in it or a bale of straw. Its not as handy as a permanent setup, but on the other hand when we're done it gets washed up and backed in the barn for the rest of the year.

didn't think of that, that's a good idea. I've got a few ways to keep it clean and help prevent rust. i'm not concerned about going all out, it is mostly for some specific situations and some other local hobby farmers want some fertillizer as well. We have one organic field and no one locally does organic fert so we are going to make our own next year, some of the hobby farmers asked if we could mix theirs as well so the cattle feed mixer may work very well due to drop chute that could be used to load bags.
