Hazelton, Kansas
Dave,

Did you inoculate them? Do the roots of the yellow and the green beans have nodules?

When I started growing beans here, none of our ground had ever grown them. I inoculated them with a double rate, but they still still looked similar to yours. When I dug them up, I was usually surprised to find more nodules on the yellow beans than on the green ones.

Usually, the second time you grow beans on a given field, they look and yield much better. I once planted a field that was new to beans, except for a small portion. You could see to the foot where beans had been grown previously, even though it was four years prior.

To answer your question, I'm not sure I would do anything. But I might throw on a little N if you find no nodules.

Regards.
