When I was 19, I was suppost to get one of my drybean fields ready, but I thought I had time and went to see my girlfriend.  The ground got wet and  we kind of mudded the beans in.  Then it procceded to rain every other day all summer.  They were so hurt all year they yielded 4 bu/a.  I never skipped ideal field conditions for any reason since. Not even for a girl.
