| our corn is starting to fire/drop the bottom leaf, but notice around 7ish or so when the sun starts to let up that the corn goes back to dark green and looks pretty good yet LOL. Highly doubt it will be since like the rest of IL, we can't buy a rain in the east central portion either.
Last rain was 1" on June 29-30. Don't get one soon and the excellent pollination will give way to aborted kernels. Think it's more heart breaking up here than southern, IL since our corn actually got to 7-9' tall, pollinated well, and NOW its starting to go down the drain with 16x36-38 ears and who knows how many we'll abort with no rain in sight. | |
