The Iowa On-Farm Network has been doing a lot of plots with this the last couple years, and their overall data would indicate that the odds are against recovering the seed cost of higher pops. And if you take the time to dig through the numbers, a lot of that is happening in high yield environments (180-230). I backed off 2-3000 across the board as well as doing several plots of my own this year, guess I will know more in the combine but certainly don't regret saving the money now.
