In this part of the world the corn was planted in very dry dirt. I think that has helped these roots more than anything no compaction. I don't see how the corn has hung on as long as it has.


We are in the same boat and feel the same as you "don't know how it has hung on this long". But now we are trying to do kernel fill, we are starting to see big time stress. We will have areas in some fields that will yield zero. Just guessing maybe 20 acres of a 80 acre field will be zero? The better soils will help us thru. 1 thing is certain, we will have NO corn fields break 100 bpa this year (as field average). Like I said....chit happens
