Subject: RE: Where are the dairy farmers?

Hutchinson, MN
We run 55 to 60 cows including the dry ones, currently milking 51. Utilize an automatic milking system, avg 2.4 milkings/day(working on improving that). Being not only on the cutting edge of this new way to manage cows, but on the point, (not much support from CAN or europe about management issues) sometimes seems painful. That said, I'd do it over in a heartbeat, I've enjoyed the challenge. Currently avg about 30 kg/day, planning it to improve when we make less management goofups. SSC avg 200,000 or less, Sand bedded freestalls and upright silos. We raise all our replacements and feed, even feeding about 2 lbs/day raw soybeans we raise.
