The guys I know that use the solid sets are watering sweet corn or hay or veggies. I'd think you would want the system out of the field before you harvest (I'd hate to dig a riser out of a corn head). I'd thinks travelers (even soft hose systems) would suit you better, especially if you could open up some 20 ft gates between the fields so you could limit your set-up. I'd bury the pipe and put in risers to limit your labor and set it up so you could get the most coverage w/ the fewest number of pulls.
