thumb of michigan | There is not a truck stop in Bad Axe, just a station with Diesel and it closes at 9. Lots of little factories around here so lots of trucks, but nowhere to park a truck other than the side of the road for at least an hour if not two in any direction, some of the areas you quoted are more than 2 hours away. I suggest you do a little more investigation because you are way off as far as for this area, and many others from my experience. The Thumb rest areas have no art and pit toilets. If you run out of hours pretty much anywhere in the Thumb you are S.O.L. other than road side rest stops. I won't even go into what happens if dinner cuts you short. Shaking the bush boss does not sit well with me, and I don't imagine you enjoy it either. Highway funds get wasted real easy on a lot of things. Basic human needs in the sticks ain't one of them. Using fuel tax dollars to fund such idiocy as an underwater shipwreck park or a bike path on the other hand.....
3 Ph.D's to write a report on rest areas is another fantastic waste of money as is most management at M.D.O.T.
