Subject: plugged center pivot

Western Nebraska
Has anyone ever had the vertical pipe in the tower plug? The pivot control wire inside the vertical pipe, goes through a smaller galvanized pipe to get to the globe on top, this creates pinch point inside to catch trash.

used pivot installed with a half mile of underground pipe bringing water from pit. Installer never cleaned corn husks out of pipe at time of installation. Started it up and no water coming out nozzles, eventually blew rubber coupler at bottom of vertical pipe.

Bad part about Reinke is the couplers inside the pipe catch trash, thought we'd just have to unhook each tower and clean couplers, never even got that far. Spent the entire day, trying to get corn husks etc from vertical tower. Got about 2-3 bushel baskets full of corn stuff, but can't get the last foot and a half.

Finally decided to un wire and pull globe out to get rid of pinch point and thought trash would simply drop out. Globe does NOT come out easily. Used a jack and pry bar to raise globe 4". Does not turn with pipe wrench and cheater. Estimate another foot to foot and a half to bring globe out all the way.

Would have been faster and cheaper to get a whole new tower. I dunno.

Any secrets out there?

Thanks
craig
