Subject: smoking duramax ?

south central kansas
got a 2001 duramax with 286000 miles on it. Have only had it 4 years and never done any thing major to it. It is smoking pretty bad after it gets warmed up. Runs out real good, no miss or problem with pulling , do think though that its using more fuel ( haven't checked it ). Stopped by my cousins shop this morn and he put his scanner on and it said high fuel pressure. Everyone ive talked to says injectors. I tried to search this but me and the search engine on this site don't get along. My cousin mainly works on Dodges so he don't really know but he thought it looked like you need a special tool to remove them and maybe install. Have heard horrer stories of this costing 6,000. Has anyone done it themselfs and what do I need to know? Thanks a lot 4640
