| rolling is a defensive mechanism. IMO, the high heat during pollination does more damage as it affects pollination. In the drought of f '88 a neighbor had late planted corn that didn't start tasseling till the drought was breaking. He had normal yields while everyone elses yields were reduced at least 40-50%.
Had a couple area farmers that started planting the middle of March this year, everyone else waited till early April to start & have one guy that didn't plant till May. The early planted corn was pretty much tasseled out before the high heat hit here & ears look to be filling pretty good driving by, better than the April planted corn. The late planted really looks rough but it was mudded in. Time will tell.
