Guymon, OK | When any company can release a hybrid that will produce 150 or better on 12in of moisture in Southwest Kansas, then I'll call it drought tolerant. Until then, well, if you don't have the water you won't make a crop. There are some hybrids that will do better in a tough year, but there isn't anything truly drought tolerant yet.
Our custom-farmed P1498 was looking pretty rough when I went out on Sunday. I think it just shut down during the ten days of 105+ temps, and the wind cause the upper leaves to flash on the SW part of the field. | |
