That is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard. My wife drives forty miles one way to work every night. We bought an 08 Camry new in 2008 and she has gone to work on some pretty bad roads in the winter and never had a minutes trouble. She has gone thru some pretty deep snow and driven on ice with it. No trouble at all. I really wonder sometimes where these rumors start.
