Honestly, if your crops look good now and have decent moisture to work with I think it is a no brainer. There is evidence out there to suggest that corn treated with fungicide can withstand heat a little better than untreated corn. Like you said you don't need much of a bump to break even. We are faced with the decision here of whether to spray or not. We always do but we are going to be getting close to insurance guarantees by the end of the week. Once you get there do you just save the money and collect your insurance claim or do you spray it and try to get another ten bushels out of it to keep your APH up a little and make an honest effort to avoid an insurance claim. I'm pretty sure we will spray since I just can't make myself give up and farm for the insurance. We have jap beetles bad too so we are probably going to have to put the plane in the air for them if we want to save the crop and once the plane is in the air you might as well throw in the fungicide. I have never seen the jap beetles this bad. Usually they just eat the trees and soybeans until corn starts shooting tassels and silks but this year they are in the far ahead of tassel and starting to strip leaves pretty bad. Afraid we are going to have to spray for them earlier than we would like to apply the fungicide. Going to be a tough call.
