German Valley, IL
I have watched a few 900's run ... haven't ran one myself but was not very impressed at what i saw compared to what big Claas guys think they can do .... sat there and said I could run faster than that in that small of a windrow without even pulling the motor down ... after all , the fx60 has a bigger cutter head and only (depending on year ) i think 10-20 hp less ... biggest thing is the change of direction the flow of crop has to take but once it does that big conventional blower has a lot of power compared to the small diameter paddle excelerator , watched them plug in gummy silage that would not phase our 60 very much ...Don't get me wrong , not saying some day we might not own a Claas but I can make an ass out of a few smaller custom operators not far from us with 900's that is why we own our own machine ... I have had a couple small problems with the 60 but not to bad for its age ... I think Fx machines got a bad rap from the early years and after having one I agree they were a nightmare , but at the end of the fx's they were getting them figured out ... a lot of what a machine can do has to do with set up and operator ( you guys know that as well as anyone) and when it comes to that I think we are pretty high up there also ... you know us by now we are a lot like you guys ( very good mechanics , fabricators and operators )
P.S. I am going to give you a call this summer sometime to get some pricing on custom application if we get a lease locked up again on a certain farm
