Subject: RE: planter set-up - seed depth and planter closing wheels

Have you worked with producers that are incorporating cover crops into their no-till?

This fall, I intend to sow cereal rye into both standing stalk and bean stubble. My concern is the cover may provide cooler/wetter conditions for the no-till corn in this area of CIL. What is the weight of the Curvetine wheel? As previously mentioned, I have the half-strength springs, but am wondering if the weight of the Curvetine wheel may be excessive and contribute to sidewall compaction in this application.

Any experience shared in this type planting environment would be appreciated.
