sw mn
I have seen a 2 bushel increase where I left a check areas a couple years ago. Havent done any checks since, I just do all the corn and beans. On dry years I feel it helps to fill in the cracks and the wet years to get it opened up and some air in the ground. Running 22" rows with a hiniker 1000, 10" sweeps. Usually get by with one spraying and then hit it with cultivator just as the rows are closing or before depending on conditions. I feel it pays back, maybe more on certain years but after seeing the difference I just do it all now. Would like to do more check strips but it seems to be one more thing to try and mess with when there isnt much time for it.
