Southeastern Kansas
Since you mention soybeans ,I assume you are refering to broad leaf weeds and not grasses. Having spent untold hours 20 years ago on a Hagie with a rope wick attachment ,I can relate some experiencesas to what worked and what did not. We always used roundup at half water and half chemical. It worked pretty well on johnson grass and cane if you wiped it from both directons at maybe 4 mph. Broadleaf weeds where very hit and miss and I would guess with todays weeds you are wasting your time. Problem being by the time the weeds get big enough to wipe they are too big to kill. Probably have to use a 2-4D type chemical as we all know how good roundup works by todays standards. A more sucessful strategy would be to spray when the weeds are small. We all know how well that works at times which might be why you are asking about rope wicks. Sorry couldn't be more positive but I have to call it as I see.
