Is it more likely that farmers will start with a grid method, but switch to zones once they understand similarities within areas? Some labs claim that by knowing your soil type you can save quite a bit on fertilizer, but is that actually true within a 2 year span? Does the soil really change so much in only a few years that different fertilizer applications would mean more saving?
I know there are several other services that labs offer, like grain, fertilizer, and manure analysis. Do farmers ever use these? I wonder if farmers ever question the quality of their fertilizers ... are they actually getting the quality they are paying for?
