| Hello,
I'm doing some research about soil and plant tissue sampling, and I thought I might be able to get a more realistic idea of how growers use these practices by posting here. I understand that the "industry standard" for grid sampling is a 2.5 acre grid, but I'm wondering if people actual do that many samples. For example, would a farmer with a 1000 acre field actually send in 400 samples? It seems to me that that would be an expense the farmer wouldn't really want to pay and so would do larger grid sizes. Is it an expense farmers are willing to pay because the return is promising? Also, how often would they have the testing done/would it be done in conjunction with plant tissue testing? I've tried to find information on this, but all anyone ever tells me is that it depends on the situation. If anyone could tell me how he/she (or someone they know) does it, I would really appreciate it! | |
