Central Iowa | First of all I am sorry to hear of the situation you folks are in. Secondly, this discussion has nothing to do with estimating fields that are zero's because anyone can see that. Besides there simply aren't that many zero's. I'm simply stating that at this stage of the game many parts of the country have crops that have endured some level of stress. To say that one can ACCURATELY quantify today, based on visible crop conditions, what damage that stress has done and what the crop will yield simply is not the case. If that were the case then crop ratings would always precisely reflect final yield and that is not the case. It's not worth arguing the point any further. I get that you guys have really tough looking crops that are obviously damaged and I sympathize with that. However, there are many parts of the country where it is impossible to know at this stage with much certainty what the crop potential is. That is a fact, all other things aside. | |
