SC Iowa | Mizzou......I cannot do one damn thing about what mother nature is going to give us for new crop corn......but I can do something about getting us covered between now and harvest....
and yes, I know all about crop failure.....in 1977 we had 300 acres of corn and 15 acres of beans.....corn crop was over on July 4 when it was 105 and wind out of SW at 25+.....my neighbor had seed corn and it literally shrank in half in one day.......it started raining in late July and August was a near record month for wetness.....I got more bushels of crop off the beans than the corn, which we ended up chopping for our dairy cattle...
oh, and those 40+ farmers sold a grand total of 105,000 and we'll likely spot 25,000.....so like I said, a lot of folks have corn ownership......and I do not expect the largest amount of selling until there is more moisture.... | |
