It might be worth raking and baling what the combine cut, Or if you're wanting more straw for your effort, you could have it cut with a Mo/Co at whatever height you wanted and still have some standing straw to shade and hold moisture for the beans. If you take off straw, take the nutrient removal into account when you next fertilize. I also hate the thought of burning the straw, although it is a common practice in some areas. The fact that it's done doesn't make it a good idea in my mind. | |
