No, no unlock is required unless you wish to variable rate with it. You'll most likely also require an adapter cable to get the EZ Boom to plug into your existing harness, but assuming your servo valve and flowmeter that are already on the sprayer are good, it really should just be plug-and-play.
This is what I have on my 3185, and for the money involved, I couldn't be happier.
