Subject: RE: Considering a new sprayer. Hagie & Deere

I would say demo both before you do anything. I have demoed the STS 14 with 120 foot boom, they said I could use it for a day, after the first load parked it at the end of the field and jumped back in my sts 12. The 14 and 16 are to big and heavy especially with the 120 foot boom. I like the height and the up front booms, I will say that the auto steer is terrible but it is supposed to be fixed on the new models and they are working on getting the older models better. All my neighbors run Deere and I will say they are really good machines except for they have to much weight on the back axle and don't have as much clearance. The JD auto steer is the best on the market in my opinion. The only other down fall of the Hagie is the price, I always thought JD equipment was the most expensive to buy, but after priceing both of them this spring Deere was cheaper.
