Mound Texas | Surely Markwright was kidding you. If I had 15 acres I would buy 3 solid mouthed cows that were large framed, thin and 8 months bred every year in
late winter. The cows would do well and fill out as they grew their calves and you could sell all six in the fall. That would solve your bull problem each
year and those kind of cows can be had by simply knocking the packer buyers out at the auction. That program will make consistent money over the years.
If you try to run 15, 22 or 30 head on 15 acres you will quickly find yourself in the middle of a total disaster. On small acreage I think you will find that
more is not better. Black, black baldy or black mots, english bred would be my choice. | |
