well are silage is testing 40 to 42% starch, and haylage is running 3.8 or so on potassium. it seems straw is our only answer, at the moment. with silage this high in energy has proven hard to keep intakes up. we are also pushing 5# straw to dry cows

We have read some where in the past, that if you "let" your alfalfa get rained on, it will release some of the potassium?
spreading potash in the fall always seems like a "catch 22"
