Columbia City, Indiana | I have two older Hereford cows, one is about 8 and I'm not sure how old the other is, who have "bad" udders. Both had a quarter that I thought had gone bad, and one has had extremely swollen teats for a few years, but her calves have always been able to nurse. I was thinking of culling both this fall because of their udders, but their calves are sucking on all 4 teats and seem to be doing well... now I'm not sure whether to keep them another year or go ahead and cull them. Both are excellent mothers and calves on the early side of my calving season. Both are raising F1 black baldy bull calves. | |
