Reel augies don't mix bucket very well either. We use industrial grade reel augie, been a good machine but we don't mix unprocessed hay. If we were mixing a lot of unprocessed hay we probably would go to a vertical. Tried a vertical and wasn't happy with the unprocessed hay as they did a lot of sorting. So went back to the reel augie with processed hay. But on the other hand the hay we feed was course grass hay for fiber for certain groups of cows. For a fiber additive I like the field chopped straw as there is almost zero sorting. If you are feeding higher quality hay the vertical probably would be the way to go. Every farm is different on how they skin a cat!
