Except that it ain't.  C'mon, I don't want this to turn into a political discussion, either.  But, the numbers absolutely don't support that assertion.  In the 1850's it might have cost a weeks wages to buy a pair of shoes.  Today?  I think a view of history here is very helpful.  It's also helpful to look at some numbers, to see past the wailing and knashing of teeth on this subject. |  |
