South Central PA | around here the May 15th date mentioned is not out of line to me at least as a start date. Don't get me wrong I get antsy and such but neighbors planted corn bout 2 weeks ago prior to a cold week w rain moving through and it's still not out of the ground yet. It's just a matter of personal preference. I have plot data from our farm when I sold seed a yr or so ago with corn double cropped behind rye I baled for straw. Going from memory with a plant date of June 17th the plot avg on roughly 25 ac was 145 bpa and this is a county with a FSA average yield for corn of 98 bpa + or - | |
