Centre county Pennsylvania, USA | Today we planted 50+ acres of corn in near perfect soil conditions. The only other corn we have in the dirt is a 5 acre corn test plot we planted April 19th, it was spiked when I checked this PM. The first 3 weeks of May are the time tested planting window in this area. We try to plant all of our corn and beans in that planting window, soil conditions and weather permitting. It's always a high anxiety 3 week window, but for the last 25 years we have almost always got the crops planted during that 3 week window. With 2 of those 3 weeks remaining, and no river bottom land to plant, we are happy with the 2012 planting season to date here, |
