WC Franklin Co., In.
My oldest farm memory is planting corn with Grandpa. It was the early 70s (I was probably 7 or 8), and Grandpa had a H Farmall and a horse drawn Blackhawk 2 row planter that he had modified the hitch on. I rode on the rear board of the planter as the monitor. I remember Grandma coming out around 10am with lunch. We'd make another round, and it was into the house for dinner. Around 2pm she'd be back out with lunch again. 6pm and we were in the house for supper. How in the world he ever got anything done is beyond me. I can plant more corn in 10 minutes (w/ 6RN) than he could get done in a day. I sure wish he was around to see how farming has changed. I miss him sometimes even though he died when I was 11.
