Highland Center, in Southeast Iowa | Dad had old sows in a pasture (of course they were well-rung), and had the hayrack with the sideboards in place backed up to the fence with ear corn on it. It was my job to throw ear corn out to the sows in the evening. Three ears per sow, so I had to count sows to be sure they were all up to feed and keep track of what I was throwing over. I was probably 6 years old. |
