Punching wire on a Case hay baler, it was fed with pitch forks, set a wooden block when the bale was long enough and punch the wire through a slot in the block. I was not tall enough to set the block, that was Moms job, as she would also tie the wire on the other side of the bale chamber. Dad fed the baler with a fork.
Didn't miss this when Dad bought a 1949, 50T IH baler. It was temperamental, it would tie some and miss a few, on a good day 500 bales would go through the baler.
