| A few pages back I asked about Eby vs Wilson Al livestock trailers. Well I bought the Eby mainly because it was $2350 cheaper. Really liked the Wilson as it just seemed the hinges, hardware, and gooseneck were a little heavier and better designed. Downside would have been the flat punched sides are more easily dented and salesman recommended plywood lining. Eby salesman, whose name happened to be Eby but I'm told was no relation to the owners, was really agressive pricing his new trailer and my trade. Never heard any complaints about Eby and there are a bunch around. Extruded sides are less susceptible to denting. Got a tour of the Blue Ball, PA plant. A lot of automation in forming and cutting parts but still much skilled hand labor in laying out and welding. The model I bought happens to be made in OH. Wilson trailer was made of 5052 Al alloy while Eby was made from 6061 alloy which is a little stronger but not as bright and shiny. Eby used Chinese TowMaxx tires while Wilson used Chinese Carlisle tires so a wash there. Had I been making my living with this trailer and using it everyday I probably would have bought the Wilson but I'm sure I'll be pleased with the Eby. Now I'm waiting for a rainy day to go pick it up. | |
