Subject: RE: New kitchen

King City, Mo
We are still in the process of building our house but we have the layout mostly planned out.

What we did we made simple decesions and then drew it out crudly to see if we liked it.

Do you want your sink in front of the window?
Do you want a bar?
Do you want an island?
Do you want an island and a bar?
Do you want a sink in the bar? (if so single or double sink)

Right now our house is framed and the builder had drew the bar out in the middle of the floor on the plan...it looked good on paper but we are going to push the bar upagaist one wall after drawing it out on the floor w/ spray paint realizing you couldn't walk around the cornner without making an sharp turn and would have to get knee and hip replacements in 5 years..... So we drew it in a different color of spray paint to see how we like that.

You could go out in the driveway or concrete in the shed and measure up and make a mock kitchen and spray paint or caulk it in and try different ideas. It's your house, nobody else knows how you use your kitchen so it has to fit your needs.

If you have time, talk to the kitchen people at menards and lowes and home depot. They may have a good idea even if you don't have any intent of buying something from them. You might see a feature or idea in there display that you like. Most of the little cabniet shops around don't have much of a show room around here so to help us the box stores have really helped and then we'll go local to get the quality we want.
